Job and / or category: Program Officer – National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy (NASCA)
About Jack: With a Health and Project Management background, I knew that making serious change was always what I was aiming for. After graduating my masters, I took up a role at NASCA and have loved being able to make a difference in the lives of young Indigenous Australians for a living. In my spare time I am playing Rugby Union, hanging out with mates or getting some down time at the beach.
Why is the Banksia Project important to you?: Going to an all male school, and spending large amounts of time in a male dominated sporting scene, I quickly adopted the stoic “alpha male” attitude where feelings were something one kept to themselves. Having dealt with mental health problems around me, and also experiencing issues myself, I want to create an environment where everyone knows that they have a network around them for support, providing a safe space for everyone to talk about their feelings and emotions.
